The Five Principles of ME:

  1. It’s all about ME, meaning you. The only program that works is the one that fits your metabolism, psychological sensitivities and personal preferences. For every crazy diet or exercise program in existence, you will find someone it works for.   No matter what you hear in the media, from your favorite fat loss guru, or even from us here at Metabolic Effect, all that matters is does it work for you.  Your job is to learn your metabolism, be true to your psychological needs and honor your personal likes and dislikes.  It is our mission to help you learn how.
  2. Eat for fat loss. Weight loss foods and fat loss foods are not the same thing.  You can be burning calories or losing weight, but those calories and that weight may or may not be fat. “Healthy” is a relative term.  What is healthy for you, may not be healthy for another. Just because a food is rich in vitamins and minerals, does not mean it will help you lose weight. Instead of counting calories, measuring pounds lost and calculating nutrients, learn to read your body and feed its needs.  Hunger, energy and cravings, along with a host of other biofeedback sensations teach you all you need to know about the diet that will work for you. This summit will help you identify these biofeedback tools so that individualising your program is a simple process.
  3. Exercise efficiently. Smart exercise means doing the minimum amount required to get the results you seek. Like food, exercise can either aid your body and balance your metabolism, or stress your system and disrupt your physiology. The goal is to find the unique mix of exercise type, frequency and intensity that creates a tight, functional and balanced body.
  4. Rest-based living. You can eat your way to obesity and dis-ease or you can stress yourself there.  Sleep and stress have zero calories yet they drastically impact what we choose to eat, how much we eat and whether we are motivated for exercise or not.  You might think it is all about diet and exercise, but lifestyle inputs matter more than you can possibly imagine.
  5. Fat loss happens anywhere. You don’t have to eat organic kale and wild salmon from Whole Foods to be healthy fit and lean. All you need to do is learn shared rules of human metabolism and combine that with a knowledge of your own metabolic expression, psychology and personal preferences.  Health, fitness and fat loss is about shades of gray, not black and white.

Dr. Jade Teta completed his undergraduate training at North Carolina State University, earning a bachelors of science in biochemistry. He then went on to study at Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington, widely regarded as “the Harvard of natural medicine.” There he earned his doctorate in naturopathic medicine, a distinct profession of family-care physicians who specialize in integrative and alternative medicine. Dr. Teta is a licensed family physician in Washington. Dr. Teta also has extensive experience in the field of fitness, having worked as a personal trainer for close to twenty years. He carries advanced certifications in fitness from the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. His natural medicine background, along with his fitness expertise, has defined his healthcare specialties of hormonal weight loss and functional medicine approaches to chronic disease.
Dr. Keoni Teta ND, LAc. is a naturopathic physician, acupuncturist and expert in the science and application of exercise and nutrition as it relates to fat loss.  He did his undergraduate work at NC State University in biochemisty and chemical engineering.  His graduate work was done at NC A&T State University in environmental engineering; and his medical training was completed at Bastyr University. He is a contributing writer for Natural Triad Magazine and The Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients. Keoni is a coauthor of The Metabolic Effect Diet, AKA The New ME Diet and a contributing author in The Textbook of Natural Medicine. He is a cofounder of the fat-loss and lifestyle company Metabolic Effect. Keoni enjoys spending his time learning about all things health related and creating health and wellness online programs.  Most enjoyable for him is hanging out with his family and animals.

Jill ColemanThe wife of Dr. Jade Teta. Jill is a triple threat in the fitness world in that her education includes a bachelors degree in exercise science, and a masters degree in nutrition, along with advanced certifications from the ACSM. In addition, she is a professional level physique competitor and a professional fitness model. Chances are you have seen her on the cover of fitness trade magazines and seen her workout spreads and educational articles within. She is the Director of Instructor Training for Metabolic Effect and has been instrumental in developing our training curriculum. She brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and credibility to Metabolic Effect. She is the creator and founder of Jillfit.com where she coaches aspiring women in health, fitness, mindset and business.

Dr. Jillian Sarno-TetaThe wife of Dr. Keoni Teta and a key member of the ME team.  Dr. Jillian brings expertise in mind-body medicine, the psychology of change and is one of the premiere experts in the country in integrative gastroenterology. She is also the developer and founder Fix Your Digestion, an online education to restoring optimal gut health and digestive function.  Dr. Jillian is also a professional level physique competitor and an accomplished fitness model.

Gary Leake A past national bodybuilding champion. Gary is VP of Operations for Metabolic Effect. He is also a co-developer of the ME personal training and group exercise systems. and ME training curriculum. Gary also runs the tech side of the Metabolic Effect business. Gary has lived the fat loss lifestyle for over twenty years.  He brings his vast experience in the world of fitness and physique development as well as excellent teaching and communication skills to Metabolic Effect. He has a wealth of practical experience that cannot be learned through books. He is a sought after expert of fat loss from figure athletes and bodybuilders as well as the general public.

Lincoln Bryden Lincoln Bryden is the European Master Trainer for Metabolic Effect and author of “Crack The Weight Loss Code”. He has presented in over 40 different countries during his 26 years in the fitness industry and has a Degree in Recreation Management in Sports Science. He was the runner up in the Shape Magazine European Presenter of the Year 2003. Currently Lincoln is a lecturer at London Leisure College, is studying to become a Nutritional Therapist and has written numerous training courses and certifications for training organisations both in Europe and internationally.
